Default enough power ?

im looking in to buying this electric reel , because it is 12 volts and i wont have to buy a converter , but it also makes me wonder if it can pull as much weight as it boasts . [/img]

Thats the new rig they just came out with I think. I have not heard from anyone that has tried it. The guys at Lindgren talk highly about it but that is to be expected. I know that they are expensive, 3,000 I think. Then you still have to buy a rod. I use the Lindgren 24/32v motor on a penn 12/0 senator. That sets you back close to $1500 plus the converter box. I use two so I have a double box that is $900. A bit cheaper but the new setup has some nice features like level wind. IF I were starting out i would consider it but after getting some feedback on the power. I know that Lindgren spent a lot of time looking for the right motor so I hope they found a good one.

Default A New electric Kid on the block

Is this the BAD boy you are referring to?

Yeah, once you get over the sticker shock and compare the alternatives, you can go cheaper. But if you consider the other LP alternatives, I suppose that you could reach out and own this one for just a little bit more. (I just wonder if LP would consider implementing an extended warranty plan.)

Street word locally is that they are $3000, base price, no rod and no titanium spool.

The first price I have seen in writing is here: Melton tackle and locally from Tek at Reel Pro shop - http://www.reelproshop.com/store/ind...dc7d08d1de59d6

So if you consider the straight 12VDC function of this reel you can discount a satellite (series) battery configuration or the power management box. But you are still looking at $3000-$4000 to get this reel into your arsenal.

For the source specifications: http://www.lindgren-pitman.com/S-1200/index.htm

P.S. Whoever steps up to the plate first, give me a call to go fishing with you. I am curious to see how this ""BAD BOY"" works too. RT

The biggest problem with this reel is, the picture you see is the only one in existence right now. That is the prototype and they have not put out the production model yet. Given their reputation I am sure they intend to put out a quality product but I think they jumped the gun a little by
introducing this reel without the being ready for production on them.

I use the one like Jerry w/10/0 and a satalite battery set up,no big deal to rig up by the way, instead of the converter box, this rig could pull a horse off the bottom!

Default l.p.

I was on a boat this past summer when a lp was being tried out. that is the new model and we went down to 2300ft and hooked 3 mistics averaging65lbs. each. the reel pulled all3 of them up without hesitation. It didn,t even slow down one bit. There was also a 10lb weight at the end..The reel also came to the surface and stopped automatically. You did not to have to shut it off, you could walk away and let the reel do all of it.I have a lp with a senator on it and will shortly buy one of a new one..If you can get me one at 50% off, ill take 2 of them.. What I have heard is there is a glitch in one of the chips and that they are working it out and will have that corrected shortly and will have them on the market soon. From what I have seen, its really the best of breed........
