I'm at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show as an exhibiter and today recieved a press release from the Bahamian Government outlining the NEW fishing regulations. They are: 18 pelagics per boat
60lbs scale fish, or 20 fish whichever is reached first 12 lobster per boat All billfish, including swords to be released unless caught in a tournament. There was also something about conch but I don't remember what is was.

I heard much the same thing yesterday, will post up more when I can get it in writing. There may be some 'tweeking' to come especially the releasing all swordfish bit.

Alan:
I don't know what you did or said, but M.P.s did it: Ya Mon! ![]() I still wish I could retain a dozen (12) conch and be able to catch a swordfish at any time, but overall I am very pleased with the compromise compared to the way it was since January of 2007. And only less than 60 days to Christmas. We were being good boys this year. Bahamas, here we come. But see if you can't get them to allow 1 swordfish in the boat, because Alan the Islandshark of New Providence, said so.

18 wahoo in the winter, or 18 gaffer dolphin in the spring, or 18 tuna in early summer - that's a lot of damn fish and well worth going over in my opinion. |

Or better still if you self manage and "conserve by diversity" - you could have 6 yellowtails, 3 muttons, 2 Black groupers, 2 Misty groupers, 1 Tiger grouper, 4 yelloweye snapper and 2 black snappers, in total well over the basic 60 lbs. if your groupers are on the larger side. (or any mix and match you like). Now this make a lot more sense. Plus your 18 pelagics. Plus enough conch for a tasty appetizer and enough crawfish for a nice meal on another day. Good God almighty which way do I steer. And don't forget the mustard sauce. We be once again.
