Default Pair of Cobes w/no gaff!!

Fished out of Homestead last night with Turtle and Jiggy, looking for some Muttons. Slick calm seas and we had just missed the thunderstorms, but no current so the Mutton fishing was a bit slow. We bounced around to a few of Jiggy's spots and Turtle was able to put a couple of keeper Muttons in the boat, while Jiggy caught a short Mutton. We made one final move, really late, and it paid off, as we boated a nice pair of Cobia. Unfortunately, we didn't have a gaff on the boat. . . luckily we had Turtle He literally wrestled both Cobes into the boat with his hands Here's Jiggy's Report in the FS South Reports Section and a couple of pics

So you are saying those fish were actually caught twice, once by you and again by Turtle!! Well done and some very good eats.

Way to go Turtle and crew!! Fat cobes....the best eating fish. Wish I saw the cobia rastling video. They got that dangerous spike on the back by the dorsa and can bend a gaffl. Oooh baby.

Thansk for the kind words Fellas! Turtle is one CRAZY SOB. I've seen him do something very similar with a 250# Sword after a bad 'Poon shot. . . We've fished together for a good few years now and it's always an adventure. The smaller fish went 33# and the bigger one went 40#.
Headed back to San Diego next week. . . still lookin' for that Big Ol' Swordy on the West Coast. . .
