To start with Thursday's crossing was less than fun.4 to 6 and close together,in a 26 Sailfish we were soaked from head to toe.We avoided all the rain until 1 mile from Bell channel then came the whiteout with some sparkly stuff just for fun.We found the channel during a slight break and ran for the dock.A 3hr trip turned into 5hrs +.Then add a couple hrs of rain once we hit the dock.Filling out paper work is lots of fun when you are soaked :???: OK thats the bad stuff and it only got better from there.Venture had a group that came over and they all had a bad crossing too.I was thinking to myself not as bad as we had and I had some big boat envy going with all those pretty Ventures floating around. All the Venture people I talked to were very nice and they all seemed to be having a good time.In fact all the people I met over there this trip were great people and some very good times were had on the dock this trip.Fri was a great day both weather and fishing. Most of the fleet was still chasing the Tunas but we had other plans,Yellowtail not Yellowfins. We Ran out to one of me favorite spots and only had to anchor once.It was perfect conditions for this spot light SE wind running with the current.Within 1 min we had tails coming over the rail.Nice fish to start with then the flags showed up and they were stacked up behind the boat.We had to deal with a couple sharks and cudas but that just added to the fun.We caught some cudas for the maids and they loved us for it.For fun we played with the sharks but the new guy only had to reel one in to get his fill of pulling on a shark. We got some small groupers and got rocked up twice with some bigger groupers and a shark got a nice one about half way up but that is part of the game.We had to run in early to drop my buddy off so he could meet his father and brother at the airport. We left the flags snapping 20ft behind the boat.We ran back out to a close spot and pulled another 30 or so tails. Then we did some snorkeling and called it a day.The tuna guys did OK with alot of boats catching a few tuna each day with some big Dolphin thrown in.I saw 6 or more 30lb plus fish including a 50+ Dolphin. We did the same drill on Sat and added some dolphin to our yellowtails. The tails were not as big on Sat we had a wind against the tide situation because the wind came around to the SW so the chum line was not bringing in the flags we had on Fri.The tuna fleet did about the same with some big dolphin again and one boat raised two white marlin jumping one off and bringing the other boatside for a nice release. All in all it was a great trip with good friends and some new friends to boot.We ran home early Sun stopping once on some scattered weed and a Frigate which gave up the location of a nice school of dolphin around 4 to 5 pounds and we took 20 and left the rest swimming.
