Default Coming to Puerto Rico

I am shipping the boss' boat to Puerto Rico for the winter arriving in mid November. We will be based in Humacao on the east coast. He likes to troll more than bottom fish. This will be my first trip there so I don't know anything about the fishing. From what I have read it seems to be mostly Wahoo and Mahi fishing on the troll in the winter. We would also be interested in Swordfishing.
I would greatly appriciate hearing from any one with local knowledge for this time of year.

Yep lots of big wahoo there. They are just now starting to show in some numbers now around here in St. Thomas. Have yet to see alot of mahi but they are around. I do know that a guy caught a sword around 650 there this year for the PR record.

Wether has been really nice lately, to bad you are not here yet.

Default Thanks

I appreciate the info. Are there ever any yellowfin or bluefin tuna caught in the winter around PR or St. Thomas/St. Croix?
I am not asking for specific locations just trying to learn what is available.

Thanks kill shot.
I will be arriving in St. Thomas 11/8. The boat is coming in by ship that week. I hope the weather holds. My boss is always talking about the wind down there and the rough seas but he wants his boat there and I will not argue. It looks like a good place to spend the winter. Thanks for your reply.

Capt. John,
I am the General Manager of Palmas Del Mar Yacht Club in Humacao, PR. We have a 168 slip marina located in the exact location your are talking about. Are you keeping the boat behind someones home in Palmas? We are having a Wahoo Tournament on November 21 & 22 out of the marina - I can send you more details, it is a one day tournament we put on every year, the registration is only $225 - and it would be a great opportunity for you to speak with local anglers. Anyone else interested please feel free to ask for more infe. Our website is The Yacht Club :: Palmas del Mar or you can access it through Marinas of the Caribbean.

During our last tournament we had a 550 sword caught - there are some big critters on our side of the island and the Wahoo bite is definately picking up now through December.

If you need any info please do not hesitate to ask even if you are not staying with us in the marina.

Marinaman, thanks for all of your help.
I am hooked up in St. Thomas at Crown Bay Marina and I am looking forward to spending the winter with you in Palmas. There appears to be a lot of interesting structure out front and south of there . I can't wait to give it a try. See you soon.
