Default I guess I am used to having a lot of water under my keel!

The Sportfishermen Of Broward club (SOB's) just had our annual trip to Big Pine Key last weekend hosted by Dr. Gody Hill, an expert flycaster and founding member of the SOBs.

Fished with a friend that has a 16' Maverick flats rig. Spent saturday am waiting on a mechanic to rebuild the o/b carbs, (would you believe $150 for a 2 hour saturday, on site, triple carb rebuild??? I will post the guy's info when I can get it) so Sat afternoon was just a f/o day.

Sunday we headed out in the am to the Content Keys and worked a couple of beautiful flats...saw at leas a dz grey ghosts. but missed my shots on fly. Got tight on a real nice snook up under the mangroves, but it circled the boat and I got hung up on the poling platform and broke off (I was fishing 8#)

We drifted off the channel and ended up aground on the falling tide, and spent the next five hours rationing the 7 beers and wading the flats. Had a couple more shots a bones, and my buddy spotted a redfish cruising the wash.

Even though we were stuck in the MOFN, it was gorgeous out there...the solitude and change of pace was pretty theraputic!

no...I think we were too shocked to see one down there! reaction time kinda was slow

The locals say that reds and snook are on the way back in the lower keys, and it is actually worth targeting
