The boat will be behind my house on the lift on Wednesday. Just waiting on the windshield by Fred Herman.

Here's a few pictures:

31 Ocean Master, they did not get the nickname of ocean smasher by accident. She is not the fastest but she is the best ridding c.c. in big seas that I have been on.

Just add big spray rails and lots of isenglass but yes one of the best.If we are going old school throw in the 30ft rybo runner.I have fished far and rough on them and they are an awsome sea boat in all seas and give the feel of a much bigger boat.

If you can find an old ocean master or Rybo runner and redo it.They would cost half the price of a new equal size CC and be as good or better then one.

Look at BBpro's redone OM or look at the Bill collector.

In fact a few threads done from this one is a 87 30ft OM for sale that has been redone.

I agree with you on those old Rybo runners and the ocean masters they are great hulls the older ones but modern boats as today I can't a better riding boat than that venture. I went wahoo fishing with a buddy of mines to bimini on a northeastern coming in and I can truly say that boat road on 6 to 8 at 35 to 40 mph. It's a real heavy boat and it can take a beating. If you want to talk about a true classic it does not have the size but it sure as hell keeps up out there in rough seas is that 23.3 thunderbird formula. Those old formulas are weather machines. I have a little twenty footer that redid in 01 completely and that boat handles some seas for its size.

Definitely like the Rybo...I think this it be my next sled. I was about a day away from picking up the one that was on the 'boats for sale' forum. Now I am trying to scrape up more $ for another I found out there (at 2x more than was listed on SFC)

I am putting the 'Fishsticks' up for sale soon..25' 1976 Mako, tower, 2x 225 (2000) Evin FICHTS on bracket, 2 year old continental trailer; GPS, Simrad finder, Robertson pilot trying $35k

I love my 33 Avanti with twin 250 Suzuki's. I've been on many boats in rough seas some have handled it well (yellowfin), others not so much. But i've been caught in 4 different storms on my boat (once with Disco Lady) & was able to maintain speed regardless of sea conditions. My worst encounter and best test was a lightning storm with 30 - 40 mph winds about 5 - 6 miles from Ocean Reef. Had the boat full throttle 6000 rpms and spent the whole time on top of 4-6 ft waves without any pounding or beating.

BTW I called DL & asked him to check the radar for a clear spot in the clouds & he directed me to Ocean Reef. 2 minutes after I got to OR all hell broke loose I waited out the storm in the Marina bathroom.

Thanks again Disco.

The other day i was putting gas when a former Coastie sees my boat, immediately recognizes it and tells me how they used to love confiscating Avanti's and running them full throttle regardless of the chop.

I've already done it not because I wanted to but I have had to on multiple occassions.

You maybe right on the Avanti and you like you say everyone will defend what their boats. Never ridin an avanti but I'm just saying and I think a lot of people will agree that when it comes to center consoles Venture and Yellowfin have to be one of the best riding hulls and I will put up a 39 venture on 8 footers against any boat and I will take it to you. As far as sportfishes go Hatteras are bad a$$ riding boats but I got to hand it to the vikings especially the 61 vikings that's a bad fishing machine. If I was to catergorize from best to worst in my opinion customs are the best after customs its a tie between hatty's and vikings.

My buddy Disco Lady will tell you how much he loves 58 Jarret bays. That his favorite boat as a matter of fact he was thinking of working on one but it had to have a carolina blue hull and white top and wanted to name it obliviouless..

Planing and atrolling. Crossing the gulfstream and fishing rough weather in that Bahamas. I'm not degrading hatty's at all I think they are fanatastic boats but I think Vinking has really stepped it up and I think they are side by side.
