Default Dusky boat

Just purchased this boat off ebay , ill try to post pics or link if i can figure it out, but just wondering what some of you may think of it specs;

1980 dusky 26foot cuddy

twin 1985 johnson 150s run great when tested

solid hull with outriggers, downriggers, fishing tackle, rods, gps, depth finder

with trailer.$6500.00. Just not familiar with this boat company and it almost killed me to pay that for a 80 model boat, but the guy said it was a similar hull design to the mako. And to be honest just built a new home and money is tight so what the heck .any way like i said i will try to post a pic or link. thanks for reading. first post.....

hope this works....

eBay Motors: 26ft dual outboards dusky center console boat (item 290089226739 end time Mar-06-07 10:21:45 PST)

Dusky is a good boat ... company is here in Davie florida .. bouncer smith Fishing guide >>> runs one and it`s the only boat he uses ...looks like a good deal to me ... just check out what a new 26fter costs ... hell of a lot more cash ... just have the engines checked out before running way offshore ... good luck ..

I fished a Dusky 256 for 5 years in my charter business. Bouncer Smith and Dennis Forgionne were running them too. Bouncer still runs the 33'.

Solid boat with good weight and great head sea capabilities. Somewhat lacking in the following seas due to the narrower stern.

I was very happy with my Dusky until I tried catamarans.

Quack,
Engines are out , had to cut both shaft couplings since the two pcs became one. Skid and crating today. Should ship the iron by tomorrow. I`m keeping that positive planned attitude here.

Engines got crated yesterday to be picked up this morning. They are going to be new in 4 weeks I`m told...... hum no holding my breath for two engines and trans complete overhaul back in 4 weeks with 6 days travel. I think its a six weeker here. Meeting with first custom T Top builder this morning. Going to get hardtop and soft design . Think this time we will go to the deck instead of the console like whats there. I have plenty of beam to go around. Having power assist put into the engine compartment to lift the hatch so I don't drop a jewel every time I need to get in there. Any suggestions pro or con are welcome . With the two diesels in the hold ,a new hard top should not really change center of gravity much or any one would think. This boat as it is is very sea keeping so I'm thinking it should be ok. Has anybody been sorry they did a mod like this?

Go with the hard top for sure. The weight diff is really small. With the soft you have the weight of all the tubing under it.With the hard top they are not needed. So it is only half as much more or less.

Guys I dont have the pics yet but guess i will soon from the dealer. This just breaks my braid

Quack you duck you .... you put the web foot curse on my engines and trans. one engine delivered kinda on its side and maybe upside down in motor freight mishap . Noooooo, but yes it happened. Now new intercooler ,turbo, manifold, and a whole bunch of new parts needed maybe 10k needed to fix the port engine. I will go home from office and exercise my bottle of Stoli straight up no ice or glass needed and double up on the nexium .. This is not a good day for my daughter to hound me for a new lex is either. Think Mrs Engineer already worned the troops to not come across my bow when I arrive at home..... there is no icon of emotion that really fits here!

Other than that everything is great on the boat and things I hope will turn out just overbudget like everything else. just more chit to deal with

DL spoke to them on my way home. The intercooler is damaged on top, The turbo is trashed and some other stuff that i stopped listening to is pretty well trashed. You know it on parts prices. I was already told thousands to fix but Im not sure how many. Since I`m a betting person I think that were above 6 thousand and below 9 thousand with total parts and labor. Add 1300 if the fricken bell housing is cracked . I guess this will really be coming back new . I am concerned if the newer turbo and intercooler are compatible and what else will have to be changed to make it all work. Anything can be done but its just money and I do want my old iron back the hold.
