Anyone here buy a new f150 lately? Are they holding up for towing and reliability? I have heard mixed reviews.
My expedition is a pain to keep clean when fishing. A bed of a truck is the way to go in South FL.

I looked at them. Some of the finish was a little cheap. And the couple my friends have rattled after fairly low miles. I bought the 4 door Tundra.

td- Do you pull a boat out of a ramp no prob? Or should I go with the 4x4? I go out by myself a lot and hate to have the back wheels slip...

My brother has the F150 with the 5.3 V8 2 wheel drive. He throws two 55 gallon drums in the back full of watter and pulls his Raballo(7500 pounds dry) out with no problems, He has about 40K in miles and still no issues.
Remeber this is pulling the boat stopping can be a problem

I don't know when the '07 is coming out. But I do know that the 2007 is going to be a much larger truck (wider) and rated for 10,000 pound towing capacity. My Tundra is a limited 4x4 and I usually put it in four wheel because I have it and it's a button. But next time I get gas, I'll try it in 2 wheel and I'll let you know. My boat probably weighs about 5800 pounds and I've never had a problem taking it out of the water.

My choice right now is the tundra 4x4 or f150 fx4.
I'm leaning towards the 2006 tundra becuase of all the incentives they are throwing out...I mihgt as well go 4x4 if I can find one. I estimate my boat with all my gear to be a bit over 6,000 lbs. I plan to start keeping her in dry storage, but when I decide to go to the keys and such, I dont wnat to have any issues...

With gear we are about the same weight. The incentives are great as well. I Tow from L.I. to Fl and back. This year was a pleasure with the new truck. It still sucks down the gas in tow, but it is not bad around town. When I am here I only tow to get gas down the street. It is $1.00 cheaper.

I have fished the FLW Kingfish tour the last two years. The boat goes around 12,000 lbs. I use a F250 4wd desiel. Have had no problems with the truck towing the boat at 65 to 75 MPH on the open road. MPG is not very good, around 12 - 13 MPG at those speeds. I like Fords as they have given me good servise and no problems. Thats just me.

I have a 2006 fx4 loaded with luxury package. Great truck. gas milage sucks though.. i feel like i get 10mpg city... about the same under tow on the highway.
Other than a gas hog, the truck handles great. paid a bit over 30k. MSRP was 40k |

I had a 03' Ford F250 diesel, it was fine for pulling a big boat (36'), but the mileage was a bit poor (without the boat). Now I have a 06' Dodge Megacab Diesel (that is one big ass truck !). Loaded up a program from Superchips.com and get 15-16mpg around town and up to 24mpg at 75mph highway. Love the truck and it will fly
Pulls the 36' like a dream. I definitely recommend the Dodge over the Ford, more power and more interior room. If you are pulling a boat over 27' for any distance, get the diesel. If you are pulling a load under 7000#, a gas engine will be ok, but be sure to spec a rear gear between 3.90-4.11 to keep you from puking the tranny. Most importantly, be sure you have a set of brakes for each axle on your trailer, it is law for all new trailers to have a bake on each axle. The lawyers will eat you alive if you ever crash into someone and you don't comply with the new brake law. Did I mention that I hate lawyers

The 2007 chevy silverado is A W E S O M E !
Look into it and wait for the rebates to come.. you know they will. It has flex fuel management which allows that ttruck to get 20 mils per gallon...
