Default Bad Day of Fishing

Well I thought I knew what a bad day of fishing was until I got back to the P.E ramp Sunday morning....after a long day/night of swordfishing with 0/4 on swords and 1/2 on sharks we get back to the ramp around 6:30 am to find 1 boat at each ramp dead in the middle of the ramp getting ready to launch... instead of being my normal self and asking WTF ???I patiently wait on one of the boats to get out of the way....here's where it gets good...the boat on the east ramp with the capt. at the helm, boat on a steep incline....one of the crew releases the trailer crank and yes....down goes the boat on the concrete ramp...the driver quickly puts the truck in reverse and pushes the boat into the water.. with the capt cursing like a sailor I just shake my head in amasement...never seen that before I thought to myself...so I look over at the other boat attempting to launch and I'll be darned if he doesn't do the same thing except no driver in truck and no-one in boat...it lands on the ramp but this time 90% of the boat is on the ramp....finally the east ramp is clear and we pull my boat out....so I'm sitting there watching to see how they are going to get this boat in the water or back on the trailer and the guys from the first boat that dropped on the ramp come over to help the guy out with his boat still on the ramp...here's the kicker...they are related...same family....after some discussion they push the boat down the ramp with the trailer ....They both had the type of trailers that have a series of wheels instead of carpeted wood where the hull sits on the trailer....did I mention one of the boats looked new....twin yammi's ...Now I would have to say that gives a new meaning to a bad day of fishing is better than.......

Did you catch the license plates. I bet they were from up North. Ramps up that way are generally flat and they need rollers to get the boat off and on the trailer.

on the North side of the inlet ??....I saw a boat last year that was attempting to cut thru on the north side but turned at the last second... looks like we have a few candidates for the DARWIN award....

Amazing, there should be mandatory driving lessons for trailering a boat... same as you have truckers have a license.
I saw a guy at sandsprit park a couple of weeks ago go in with Pickup truck (a BRAND NEW, less than 2 week old F-250) and trailer in the ramp, I don't know what the guy was looking at but he didn't stop until the water almost hit his window and by then it was too late, the engine stalled and it was all over.... new pickup totalled.

Dave,

Hilsboro inlet must get quite afew of those per year as my wife and I were shooting a video for boating saftey and while we were shooting in the inlet a guy did the same thing came shooting over the rocks ejected everyone , the camera guy had some good stuff on video, but even thought they were making a video for safe boating this was not what they intended on getting. It was never used in there video , but was some crazy stuff guy says to us wow I have came in this inlet hundereds of times never made that mistake ? Really Darwin
