Exclamation Ethanol at 15%?

There is a lobbying action being taken by the Nat'l Marine Manufacturers Assoc. to try to dissuade the EPA from upping the mandated gasoline ethanol content to 15%....while I think it is fine for autos, even 10% was a bad experience for boaters....

They are nuts , Had to replace my fuel tank and sunday blew my engine , my mechanic said it could be from the ethanol, just wondering if we could sue the damn oil companies for all the damages to our engines !

Guy's ,

I see the fine print on this whole thing , the marinas with ethonal free fuel are charging $4.00 + for it. I have found a short term answer and contacted my local fuel supplier consolidated fuels and set up to purchase ethonal free fuel direct. $2.80 per gallon. they will deliver diesal only to boats, you will have to trailer you boat to depot to get regular ethonal free gas.

pm me if you would like there info and you live in broward area.

Actually, this month's Florida Sportsman has an article on the problems of Ethanol, especially for plastic and fiberberglass tanks.

Willy, I believe you went with a new fiberglass tank recently. The article even has a photo of a fiberglass tank removed from a boat which is just trashed by ethanol, totally eaten up.

I actually condition my fuel. I have twin 200 carbi Yamis on my boat, which are bullet proof and seem to be able to handle this crap fuel well. If I had four strokes or high pressure engines, I'd follow Pat's suggestion.

High tides and good fuel!!

Juan, I read that article too and it scared the shit out of me. It's obvious that with the ethanol fuel, whatever the percentage, we need to add a fuel conditioner/stabilizer to protect our fuel tanks and engines. So here's my question to all of you guys:

What fuel conditioner/stabilizer do you think is best, and why?

I recommend our product "GAS-Shok" or "DESL-SHOK". They are alcohol free and totally stop Phase seperation and water problems. Of course you are saying I would recommend my own product and you are right. However we proved our point by fixing several members major problems including Pat (GT-FISH), ask him and he will tell you. Further if you want to investigate us (USA Fuel Service) go to our website at www.usafuelservice.com

But don't take our word for it do your own investigations. I highly recommend another independent website that offers complete chemical breakdown information and recommendations including comparisons for all the well known additives in the market place. This site has great information.
GOOD LUCK, call if we can help. THX Tim

ethanol is bad period, whether it is in a boat, car, plane, or lawnmower. it's bad stuff that makes no economical or environmental sense. the oil companies have nothing to do with it, they are completely against ethanol. you can blame the government for subsidizing the most subsidized part of the U.S. even further, farmers. i am a farmer and refuse gov't subsidies. we all complain about people on welfare, but the largest welfare program there is, farm subsidies. when you figure the farmers costs in diesel, seed, chemicals, tractors, plus the subsidies they receive plus refining costs, it is very expensive to produce. The refining process is also very dirty, something the greenies are ignorant about. it's just another stupid government deal.
