Have not see the 40 sea hunter, but I can't tell you that the 35 is a small 35.
Your 34 venture is way more roomy. Nice boats though.

Doc,
I have been on a 36 Yellowfin....Nice ride and great in a head sea. Still an "average" finish to the boat.
I own a 36 Contender...great in a following sea and very light and fast. Once again, an "average" finish to the boat.

I have fished on the ThunderStruck a few times...39 SeaVee with quad Merc 275's. Now that is one fine piece. High quality finish and top quality components throughout. They spent a lot of time designing this rig and have plenty of storage with no wasted space. The rig is fast and stable and you can get 0.9 mpg if you take it easy on the throttles...."maybe" 1 mpg downhill with a tail wind. Thats pretty good for a sled of that size and speed.

Check with Airborne (Mark), he has the 39 SeaVee with the twin diesels. I understand he gets near 1.3 mpg at 35 kts.....that boat is supposed to be the shizzle.

Just remember, when you jump from a 36' boat to a 39' you will leave the better part of an extra $100k on the table for those 3 extra feet in length and 1' in beam.

Default you should be getting some pretty cool pics soon..

the Contender 37T for the money, weight and hp with all the room it has is the best I have seen. get someone to make you a overnight rain dodger for the front and a cpl big air mattresses (add some cheerleaders!) and you'd still have room. I do hear they are making a 42 sea vee.. ??? the smith boats with the twin diesels are great but no bow room..

Default If Egg Harbor would ever build the 35' walkaround with trip e teks or twin 350s..

it would be a neat match up. The original walkarounds he first built for 'Predator' would be amazing boats.

Hahaha better add that I would not to expect the boat to be real fast... fully loaded but a fishing machine with storage for days range and you could take a bunch of cheerleaders or friends ...

so many of the big sleds don't have anywhere to go when its wet without isen glass also..

And for all the talk about it being a fast boat we cruised at around 38 on two dead calm days. Thats not much different than my Venture did coming back from the Abacos loaded, and that was with only two Verados. His Invincible had three!

Ive also heard from several knowledgeable people that lower units fail quite a bit more on stepped hulls than traditional mono hulls.

The Midnight express strikes me more as a go fast boat with rod holders than a true fishing boat. Have you fished it? What do you think?

The fountain is also built for speed and Ive never seen one with a tower. Seems like more of a SKA boat than an offshore fishing machine, though Ive never fished one.

Richard, I like the SeaVee . Been on a few different ones in some pretty bad conditions. The 39 is an awesome boat. Rides real nice in bad seas. Well thought out and fit and finish is second to none. Lots of storage and room to store mother in laws under deck.

this video is pretty neat but why are they racing fishing boats? I am not sure I understand the point to jumping your boat out the water like that definatley can not be good on unit.

Richard, I'll go boat shopping with you. We'll bring a bunch of the boats over to that wicked cut (Tiloo? sp?) in the same conditions, and whichever slams the least wins. I think that's fair. We shoulda asked that guy with the 40 Sea Hunter with the tower for a demo ride.

JJ, Tiloo cut is one bad biotch when the wind is stiff out of the east. We were in 10' of water inside the cut and spread out the riggers and deployed the baits before we rounded the corner for the open sea. The seas were easy 6' at 6 seconds and within 1 minute of clearing the cut we had a wahoo on. There is some serious bottom just outside the cut for sure.....very fishy right there if you don't get launched out of the boat.

The Yellowfin 42 is a beast and has a ride that is incredable to say the least. I looked at YF, Bahamas & SeeVee, they are all great boats and have layouts that fit different people for different reasons so fitting your needs is important when choosing. The Bahamas 41 although having in my opionion the best fit and finish, just didnt suite my needs and the price was pricey for what you get top side. SeeVee was inovative and also right up there quality wise but again, I didnt like the layout nearly as much as the 42 YF. as it suites me. I did not have the chance to ride on either the SeeVee or Bahamas but from what I hear they are both vantastic. I did however run a 42 YF and without any doubt, its the best boat of its size I have ever run, fast, responsive, stable and dry. Launched off of a 6 footer and felt like we landed on air. My wife had the look of fear in her eyes, after we landed, she said sold "first time I ever heard that" I ordered trip 350's and a full tower.

I stopped by YF last week and snapped this picture while they were popping it out of the mold. You cant go wrong with YF, thay can finish the boat anyway you want and to what ever level of finish you may want but I dont see the sense in spending the extra money. I just sold a 58' custom carolina boat that I spent most of my time keeping up on the good looks and teak, I am done with that, I want to fish hands on and this stlye boat will let you do what you want. Its a dry, Stable platform thats fast and will keep my family happy . I really dont care about fishing off the bow as I am setting it to fish from the sides, having the walk around style really helps out for what I want in a boat. I changed my mind at least a dozen time on installing a tower or not, I finally ended up adding the tower with powder coating. I changed my electronics, went with Garmin 7215 and furuno 1150 with a 2 KW transducer, Flir camera, Simarad AP, and 10" GPS in the tower, EZ anchor puller. I am trying to keep it simple to maintain. YF will welcome you to vist and see the boats being assembled, itreally gives you a good idea of how you can equip your boat. Right now they have a 42 with tramendous options being added while in the build stage, its going to be a nice rig.

What a beaut! You can really appreciate the ventilated step hull in the pic. Yellowfins have purdy lines for sure.

Best of luck.
