I want to get one of these boats just want info on how it rides I looking to buy 27ft contender or the 31 foot 1999-2008 and the hydra sport limited edition 30ft that they only made from 1997 to 2000. If anybody has these boat I will pay to go out on rough seas to see how it rides. I have a 22ft pro kat that we used for swordfishing rides reel good but it is still 22ft and i seen some big boats 30ft plus that look like they handle the rough seas better.any thoughts or info would be thankful for so that I know if i need to sell my boat or not becuse i been on a 25ft contender and my boat rides smoother but just wonder if these boats i mention can do better.

i'd take the contender 31... there are alot of good deals on the 27 and 31 right now.. the 25 still has a demand because of the efficiency...
But I talked to a boat dealer and he said that the bigger boats are real hard to move at any price right now. Good luck

I also say Contender...but I am biased.
![]() I also strongly believe the Contender is much better rigged for hardcore fishing. The Hyda Sport is a little more beamy but has less deadrise. It's also heavier and more challenging to trailer. I know several friends who easily trailer their Contender 31s, 33s, and 36s. My 25 is like trailering a skiff. Tight lines. Good luck. Juan |

You better like getting wet if your going to be a contender owner, if I were you I'd get a bigger Cat or the Hydra-Sport and not run 50 mph everywhere

The argument of "which boat has a dryer ride ?" is pure crap.
You line up any boat you want and go 30mph in a 15mph quartering head sea wind and you all will be wet. Bigger bow flares of the SeaVee and Dusky and Yellowfin definitely help....but you aint gonna be dry either. Get the boat that is in better shape and in the budget....extended warranty prefered. ![]() HydraSports and Contenders are both good boats....what condition are they in and how bad do they want your cash is the driving force here. The biggest factor I look at is what is hanging off the transom and how much fuel does it carry ? No use in having a 30' boat with a 200 gallon tank. Anything under 300 gallons is a walk away for me. The motors need to be under an extended warranty program or I wouldn't even look at the boat. Turn the key and it goes POP...there goes another $18k per motor before you even get it off the trailer.

Ocean Master - not as fast (top-end) or as flashy as other brands but without a doubt the most comfortable monohull when swordfishing thanks to her weight and beam. It's nice when sailfishing to be broadside in a 4-6' chop and not be getting flung across the boat every wave.

I dunno...those SeaVee raft ups at the tournaments are getting a little crowded...

Oye Human Shark, I say you keep your current boat since you clearly have some good juju with it. You've been slaying the swords gangsta style.
Maybe they mixed some squid tang into your gelcoat. Keep up the good work! ![]() ![]() I like your style. Juani |

I think this is the boat you are talking about regarding the Hydra-Sport...
Mine has twin 300 hpdi's and only runs about 54 mph. Very heavy. 230 gallons fuel. The thing about mine is I've crossed to Bimini in 6 and 8 foot seas. Yes it sucks, but put the tabs down and plow along. My friend has a 31 Contender and he will not even cross in 5 to 7 seas. I don't like it crossing in those seas, but in the below picture I took a contractor fishing and was rewarded with a $100,000 contract while in Bimini. Very sharp deadrise. Must work the tabs a lot. Contender gets better fuel economy because of the light weight.
