I'd be willing to bet you've caught more fish than I have! I've caught plenty of fish with 15' leaders... I just found I catch more with longer leaders. And I love to take sword dogs for a walk with a long leash! I guess it should be noted here that whenever anyone is dealing with leader and a fish at boatside, they should have a knife or (I can't think of the name now) one of those razor blades in the plastic handle that works so well for cutting the leader when releasing fish. And a lightstick, already cracked and glowing, in a pocket at all times of everyone on board just in case of a man overboard situation.

Have you tried using a small LL clip to attach your lead to a wax loop? Much quicker than a rubber band. I don't like to lose my leads so I zip tie them instead of using a rubber band.

They seemed to eat better with the lead farther away. Granted, the bait is being pulled through the water with the lead 30ft or 60ft away but I think the extra few feet of distance lessens the immediate pull of the lead on the bite and gives them a bit more leeway to get the bait down before coming tight.

31 Betram is a gorgeous boat but I do not remember that boat. I sure do admire every one I see on the water though!
