Me and a friend went out just south of PE (along with 100 others) In the water at 12:00 midnight. The lobstering was tough but we managed to do well. The dive was awesome. Nice current to drift with. The morey eels were out all over the place. I saw another beautiful sea turtle sleeping on the bottom (which i didn't disturb), A few octopus and even a little bonnet head shark who followed me around for most of my dive. At day break out came the mini season lobster hunters in droves! We decided to move to a different and much more technical spot to dive. This resulted in some much bigger lobsters although fewer and harder to catch. I shot 5 nice fish too. I stopped shooting at 5 in the bag but I was amazed at the amount of potentail sizable table fare. It was one of those magic dives and after being up for 37 hours straight I need that. I also set a new personal record for times stopped by FWC, Coast Guard and the restof them...4 times! Good to see them enforcing the regs. I found over 20 Poached lobster heads stuffed under the ledges right S of PE. Not only does this suck for all of us because it's illegal but also in that when you snap lobsters in half under water it makes the rest of them leave the area which may be why the spots I saw loaded up a few days before were mostly empty at midnight, opening night. This was the hardest i ever had to work to get my limit and the longest. My spearfishing partner won the prize for biggest lobster of the Bounty. He caught another identical to the one in the photo but she was loaded with eggs and was quickly realeased back to her home under the reef. All in all a great mini season set of dives right out in front! I hope the rest of you had good dives and did well!
