I see what you are saying RT. The question becomes how much current affects the location of the fish. Keep in mind, this is not sailfishing. With that said, if the western wall of the stream was 16 miles straight off of PE, I'd be fishing that far off instead of 14. I think it is important to find current (keep in mind a strong wind out of the north will greatly reduce drift speed).
