take your rubber band and wrap i around the main line about 4 times. now put one tag end through the other and pull tight. you should now have a rubber band 'clump' along with a single 'tag end' of the rubber band. clip your long line clip though the rubber band tag end loop AND the main line. this way the main line supports the weight but the band stops it from sliding

personally i put the light about 4 feet above my bimini (i fish wind-ons) and then my weight about 5 feet above that.

JUST MAKE SURE...... that you measure your 'drop depth' from where the weight is, not from the bait location, allot of people make this mistake.
