i have a 621 and it does the job, i have caught 2 30lb AJs and it struggled alittle. I also came into a deal with a eletra-mate 920 with a 6/0 reel( i think) and that thing is a beast. Also on a rod selection i really like Welcome to DeepDrop rod that they sell. It works in any rod holder and allows the reel to sit above the gunnel and not hang over like other rods. Good luck
