There are specially made jigs for catching squid. We catch them while fishing in the Northeast canyons by either netting them or jigging the ones that we see come up in the spreader lights, or if you are marking bait at a certain depth drop the jig to that depth and jig them. They will also latch on to a piece of fish drifted back. I've even had problems with them eating and picking at our tuna baits (even live mackerel) and killing them or tearing them apart!
