Hauled out and made it south of the 45 Square in 34 minutes. Lost ALW's harpoon rope on the way out, but I will tell him when he reads this.
Get setup and drift till around 8:30 I think it was. Look down into the Hydro Glow and see a big school of what I thought were Tinkers. Bust out the sabiki and I'm hooked up. I don't know what it is. Looks like a Sardine, but the face is pointed. Litigator or anyone what is it?
We reset south shortly after with one slashed bait on the shallow tip. Don't know how deep it was cause I set it at the 'I feel good depth'. Second time this has happened to me, slashed the bait and didn't hear anything from the rod or reel. I don't have the drag too tight, I'm just surprised I haven't heard anything when it gets slashed. We hear that the one boat lands the fish and it is 66''.
Call it at 10:47 and reel up one slashed bait on the shallow jug. That is the last time I'm fishing jugs. Ever since I have started I have either been skunked or caught pups. When I fish balloons I have caught fish and they are legal. I doubt this will change anything, but that is what I'm blaming it on.
Oh well, fun night on the water and glad to be out there again. Now the skunk streak starts back up again .
