As for the burning boat, no info as to its final resting place. I think it is unlikely it went deep. The way it smelled and the description they gave of striking an object to me means busted transmission and fluid all over the engine compartment. The smartest thing they did actually was closing the boat and cutting off the air supply. It probably burned itself out.
