Default Jupiter Swordin 12/23

Get to the ramp at around 4 p.m. to meet Capt.Tater and my friend and head out in search of the Broadbill.

Get setup just after dark and get the spread out. I was looking at the spread and felt that I had messed up so we reeled back in the four rods and reset everything. I sent my new Alutecnos down to 310 as a tip rod and walk to the front of the boat to set out the other tip when zzzzzzzz First trip for the brand new reel Push the drag up to 21lbs I think and start reeling. Hooked up and we clear the short balloon and pull in a bare hook. I fight the fish out of the holder cause I've always wanted to and notice some extra blood. My knuckles kept hitting the gunnel so I put the Bluefevers on and we are set.

I get to the weight and the fish takes off again down 200ft. Get back to the swivel and wanting to use my new gaff (thanks Mother and Father) I feel like the fish is too small so we leader it boatside and measure it 50''. Well we are hungry so we keep him. Straighten the fish out and it measures 52''.

Right after the fish gets in the boat

The sickest reel ever made, the Alutecnos, I had to debut it in a good pic

My friend and I, look what is in the mouth of the fish

By now we are north of Jupiter Inlet and it is 7:30, so we reset south and drift. Around 9 the tip rod barely bounces so I reel it up to check it and pull up just a hook. Right after the short balloon pops and we start crankin on it and get to the weight and nothing. I start pulling in the line with my hands to check the bait. Get to the wind-on and see the squid and something dark-brown with an outline of a bill. I toss the line back out, but nothing happens. I swear there was a Sword behind it, Keith saw it too. Call it at 9:40 and head home in a flat calm sea.

Back at the dock

Thanks for taking us Keith, it was a really fun time.
