Hey Flyin By, that's the same boat I have. Jr.'s right, that is the 2796 Vector. The 33' Hydra is the sickest ride out there. I participated in a tournament years ago that started with a "bimini start". For those that don't know, a bimini start is when all the boats leave at the same time. It was blowing a good 20 knots that day, and the testosterone levels were at their highest. When the commitee boat sounded the horn, everyone floored the throttles. Little by little, boats started pulling back on the throttles as we got closer to the drop-off except a 33' Hydra. That guy demoralized everyone racing out there. It was the most impressive thing I have ever seen.
I've been in plenty of Contenders, and I (OPINION) don't see the big deal about them. I think the boat is over-rated; too expensive for what you are getting in return. It is very plane jane. The finish is similar to a Dusky. If its use is strictly for fishing then I can see why someone would buy a Contender. However, as a general utility boat, it isn't the best choice. I would prefer the 36' Yellowfin. That's my opinion, and i'm entitled to it.
