Yes definetly use nothing less then the 16/0, Try the VMC's I really like their hooks

As far as the bait I like bonita because its tough. I use chunks 1-2" wide and 3-4" long 1 1/2 thick. As far as targeting a bigger fish I'd say bigger bait and bigger hook.
