I had the same thing happen while high speedin, then I re thought it for a stand up fight, A tuna that stays down would be pretty good, a sword on the other hand on the surface not always straight down and usually all over the place, The angle is wrong, When He is greyhounding or up top, If your in a harness and He is up top, the rod tip is pointing out at the horizon, your not using the rod tip to put pressure to him, Atleast not the full potential of the rod.
I 86ed mine and got short straight butts, never worried about my rods going for a swim ever again.
