just thought i would throw in that when i build my rods i used short bent storabutts and bought extra straight butts. the short ones fit in the 10inch deep rod holders. the storabutts are awesome, i change them out all the time depeneding on what im doing. Also, i use a Braid Stealth Harness with Brute Buster belt plate and i LOVE it
Ex, in the bahamas we would go from trolling for tuna to marlin to wahoo every day. Throw on the bent with some cedar plugs, then straight butt and some marlin lures, back to bent for some high speed, its awesome!
but make SURE you use safety straps!!! the bents have a tendency to fly out of the holder if you are high speed trolling or a big fish hits, even if they are locked in. happened to me over spring break, i watched in horror as the $1G+ rig suspended itself between the trolling weight and the safety rope at 15 knots! :shock: :shock:
