Default Good question... frankly, they work fine.

I have about 6 LP Electrolume lights and a few are dimmer now than they were when I first got them. And that is due to the fact that I have not changed the batteries, yet! As time marches on, somehow I continue to lose one every so often: the reasons are all different. But a few are starting their 3rd season. I keep thinking of all those nights I hang them out on the boat and/or the patio deck just for decoration. Many hours of use.

So one day I may get around to changing the batteries in the green pair that I simply cannot lose. No as a matter of fact I am going to compare them for brightness and change batteries on the dimmer ones.

I have a preference for the tri-color and the full specctrum (colors in motion, ie. disco).

I have seen a few other manufacturer's brands and they do the job two.

However, I think that LP has quite simply done a very god job on these lights. They work and I have not experienced a water leak with one yet.
No water leaks is a good testament to a quality design.

LEDs are a solid state technology and technically they should not break or go dim. (Reality check - everything does break after some time). Those lights should remain just as bright 3 years from now as day one. Unless the lens or the waterproof housing materials were to become cloudy to block the LED light.

But don't let that from stopping you from trying some others. It is not to say that other brand models do not work well.
