When I hear $70 for a set of Hollow needles, the thought of Ex-Tex hollow SS needles comes to mind. This set of needles is really intended for pushing mono-filament through Braided Hollow core, either Dacron or Spectra, like to make wind-on leaders.
I would not want to be using these same needles for my bait rigging needs: just look how much a set costs you. I guarantee you will start losing them faster than you can say ( "damn, I just paid $75 for that needle set and I just lost one" or two, or 3 ) Leave those in the security of your tackle box and just use them for making your wind-on leaders.
If you read any other posts on this Topic, you will see that ReelIntubaitor has mentioned a couple of times that you can pick up hollow brass tubing from arts and Craft shops. These can be cut and pointed by grindng an angle on them. This is the way to go for bait rigging if you insist on using this method. Keep in mind, any small stick will do the job if you are try to poke a hole at the apex of a squid. ie. (Bamboo Chop sticks or Shish ka-bob skewers will work - cheap cheap cheap,)
