I prefer to avoid dropping in front of West End. The snapper are usually small and everyone and their brother has a spot or two there so they get hit hard. Any wind over 10kts makes for horrible deep dropping. The boat moves too fast to allow fish to find the rig.

As far as wahoo, with a NE wind, you probably had dirty water on the edge. Oftentimes I'll drop down to baits and 9kts when the water's dirty and I can't fish somewhere clean. Its a bit far to run from West End but if you were in Freeport I would have suggested running to Issacs for wahoo with a NE wind. It pushes that blue water right up onto the edge and you could have looked for yellowfins along the way.
