Fishing Machine with Comfort

This is a solid boat like the other Contenders. It has the same hull as the 36 open with the console modified to house a nice berth, sink, bathroom/shower, TV, and cabinets. The boat is comfortable, sturdy, rides great, and drifts nicely. The main drawback is that for some reason Contender has made certain after-market modifications difficult. For instance, wiring through the top is challenging. More importantly, as a kite fisherman and swordfisherman, I often drift and need lots of rod holders along the side of the boat. The narrow nature of the gunnel (mostly because of the recessed handrail) creates difficulty installing rodholders. To be able to space rod holders, you must play with different angles of the holder and the direction of which they are placed. Besides a few little annoyances that are inevitable in the boating world, the Contender 36 Fisharound is not only a hardcore fishing machine, but it allows for some of the creature comforts such as an air-conditioned shelter, and a large shaded and protected helm.
