restoration on (all 3 motors pulled and rebuilt and all new
decks in lower cabin)
My question is, does anyone have measurements of draft and
"V" and distance of where I can put runners? I have available
to me a flatbed trailer that can be modified to accommodate
the vessel... But measurements would speed up the process.
It's either that, or pay a mover to bring around to my property
and sit on the ground.... Which, again, would be great to have
measurements so I could build two skids on poles to hold in
place.Rating - ![]() Reviewed on Feb 21, 2011 by Boatsteve from Ill 1974 Boatel 47 IslanderRating
My 1974 Boatel Islander 47 foot
by: Boatsteve
Ok I bought this on eBay but I knew the boats last two owners. I do not know how fast it goes as I am restoring it. needs new paneling as all the window seals needed replacing and I did that first so now the paneling and then modern toilets etc.
The hulls on these are great built to last I have no stringer rot or delamination. What I question and I have asked Bluewater without a reply. This boat has two arches one at the rear and one over the upper helm. the upper helm is the whole upper deck area not like others I have seen. Anyone seen one with arches?Rating - ![]() Reviewed on Jun 24, 2009 by Blue Admiral from St. Paul, MN Nicely appointed, holds value wellBoatel, the fore-runner to Bluewater, is a well-constructed boat that wants to bridge the gap between houseboats and cruisers. Our boat is equipped with 318 Chryslers, which are nice motors.
The 13 foot beam is a little narrow, meaning a little rocking in the wakes of passing boats, but it also means an easier cruise, with better gas mileage (if there is such a thing as "mileage" on a houseboat. The boat tracks beautifully with its relatively deep V and a generous keel.
The interior is teak and teak veneers, giving it a rich and elegant look.
Like all houseboats, the Boatel suffers from structural wood rot wherever the fiberglass is cracked or otherwise compromised. Look for soft spots before you buy. |
