I purchased this boat when I was living in Hawaii. I made several trips across the Molokai channel (40 miles of open ocean). Although this is not a "dry boat" by any means its sea keeping ability was amazing! My last trip was head into 12-foot seas for 14-hrs. The water bailing "management" system worked wonderfully to keep us afloat. The return trip was surfing on 12-foot waves for the 40-mile return trip. That will put a load in your shorts but the boat held fast!! Engine is amazingly strong and responsive. Fuel econoly is aweful, cruise speed is wonderful (34MPH), top speed is impressive for a 27-foot boat (52 mph). Only issues I see are electrical vunerabilities, Outboard seemed to be set too low in water while in swells and I was displeased is how much the boat flexed in chop. I have spider cracks at nearly all corners. |
